![]() However, we do have technical troubleshooting information on our Web site and we do offer Phone Support for your product. Unfortunately, we do not offer E-mail support for Scanjet 4890. I understand that you are experiencing an issue with your Scanjet 4890. Here's what I got from that email address: I tried the HP chat-room help and they wanted me to pay $25 to sit through "is it turned on?" "are your eyes open?" "is the computer plugged in ?" No thanks. I thought VueScan would do that, but nope. So what I need is some software that will talk to my scanner and tell it to use the transparent materials adapter (TMA) feature (I think there's a light or a mirror in the lid that goes across with the scanning apparatus and allows the slides to be scanned properly). ![]() I tried to install the XP version on my Windows 7 machine but I get an error message. Previously (under XP) I used the software that came with the scanner (HP Solution Center), but there is no Windows 7 version of it. The problem is that the interface has no options for scanning transparencies, slides, and the like. That driver is enough so that I can use the scan interface available through the Windows scan option (under the control panel or off the start bar). ![]() They have an update for the driver, which I already had.
